State-owned NBCC Ltd has entered into an agreement with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) to take forward the 'Naveen Nagpur' project. The understanding, signed in the presence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, appoints NBCC as project management consultant for the development. The business district will span around 1,710 acres, with 1,000 acres earmarked for immediate use and 710 acres reserved for future expansion.
NBCC Ltd, a state-owned enterprise, has formalised an agreement with the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) for the development of the 'Naveen Nagpur' project. The memorandum of understanding was signed earlier this week, with NBCC's Chairman and Managing Director KP Mahadevaswamy and NMRDA's Metropolitan Commissioner Sanjay Meena, IAS, representing the two entities. Under the terms of the pact, NBCC has been appointed as the project management consultant for the proposed business district of Naveen Nagpur. The project is planned across an overall area of around 1,710 acres (692 hectares), of which 1,000 acres will be utilised for immediate development as a business district. The remaining 710 acres have been allocated for future expansion to accommodate growth and evolving urban needs.
The collaboration between NBCC and NMRDA is aimed at creating a new business hub in Nagpur, intended to support the region's urban and economic development agenda.
With NBCC serving as the project management consultant, the focus will be on phased development, beginning with 1,000 acres and leaving scope for expansion in the future. The initiative, formalised in the presence of the state's leadership, reflects a push towards strengthening Nagpur's position as an emerging urban and economic centre in Maharashtra.
