Omaxe Limited has received a three-year extension from the Patiala Development Authority (PDA) to complete its integrated township at Baran village, Patiala, following the return of 60 acres of land to the government. The township, launched under a public-private partnership in 2006, faced a 13-14 year-long dispute after the developer received a termination notice in 2011 for non-compliance. Around 500 allottees had already built homes. The extension allows Omaxe to resume development and maintenance, ensuring better amenities and services for residents.
The Patiala Development Authority (PDA) has approved a three-year extension for Omaxe Limited to complete its integrated township project in Baran village on Sirhind Road, Patiala. The extension follows the developer returning 60 acres of land to the government, resolving a dispute that lasted for over 13 years.
The township project, initiated under a public-private partnership in 2006, saw plots being sold in 2007 and 2009. By the time the dispute arose, nearly 500 allottees had constructed their homes within the township. In 2011, Omaxe had received a termination notice for failing to comply with the terms of the agreement, but the matter remained unresolved for over a decade.
With the Punjab government's approval, the extension was granted under specific terms that included the land return. Now, Omaxe will undertake all pending development and maintenance work in the township, which will lead to improved amenities and services for residents. PDA Chief Administrator Manisha Rana highlighted that this resolution addresses a long-standing issue and benefits the residents by ensuring regular upkeep and completion of the township.
This move is also in line with Omaxe's ongoing expansion plans in Punjab and reflects its commitment to urban development, timely project completion, and addressing housing needs in the region. The extension provides a clear framework for both the developer and authorities to collaborate effectively to enhance residential living standards in Patiala.
