The Tamil Nadu government has approved INR 1.2 crore for the development of road, water, and drainage infrastructure at the Thiruverumbur SIPCOT Industrial Park near Trichy Semi-Ring Road. Spread across 125 acres in Elandapatti and Suriyur villages, it will be Trichy's second major industrial estate after Manapparai SIPCOT. The state plans to allocate the park to a prominent electronics manufacturer, with support from Guidance Tamil Nadu. Proximity to Trichy International Airport is expected to boost land values, while infrastructure development will enhance investment and create employment in the region.
The Tamil Nadu government has sanctioned INR 1.2 crore for road and water infrastructure at the Thiruverumbur SIPCOT Industrial Park, situated near the Trichy Semi-Ring Road. This 125-acre park, spread across Elandapatti and Suriyur villages close to the Olympic Training Academy, is set to become Trichy district's second dedicated industrial estate after the Manapparai SIPCOT.
The park is planned to be fully allocated to a major electronics industry investor, with support from Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state's investment promotion agency. Unlike other SIPCOT parks, the state will focus on developing only the main access road linking the industrial park to the Semi-Ring Road. In addition, the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD) has been requested to provide 0.5 million litres per day (MLD) of water during the first phase, along with drainage facilities and street lighting.
The land for the park was previously part of the Union government's High Energy Projectile Factory (HEPF) and has been retrieved and reclassified as government land. According to Senthil Raj, MD of SIPCOT, promotions are already in progress to secure a major electronics sector investment for the entire park, with the goal of identifying the investor by early next year.
The location's proximity to Trichy International Airport, around 15 km away, is expected to increase land value compared to Manapparai SIPCOT. SIPCOT is also planning another industrial park of more than 170 acres near Sengipatti on the Trichy-Thanjavur highway. This park is proposed as a non-leather footwear hub, which could create 5,000-10,000 jobs for rural populations across Trichy, Thanjavur, and Pudukottai districts. The region is emerging as a non-leather footwear cluster, with existing investments in Eraiyur, Padalur, and Jayankondam.
The Thiruverumbur project is part of the state's ongoing strategy to attract industrial investment, create employment opportunities, and enhance infrastructure across Trichy. The park's development is expected to bring modern facilities and improve connectivity while providing a conducive environment for electronics and other industries to thrive in the region.
