Jindal India has launched a new downstream steel facility in West Bengal with an annual capacity of 0.6 million tonnes at INR 1,500 crore, increasing overall steel production to 1.6 million tonnes. The expansion will raise coated flat product capacity by 60 per cent, pipe production by 40 per cent, and crash barrier output by 75 per cent. As part of the USD 2.5 billion BC Jindal Group, the company aims to boost sales revenue, strengthen its product portfolio, and enhance operational efficiency across multiple steel segments.

Jindal India has commissioned a new downstream steel facility in West Bengal, adding 0.6 million tonnes of annual production capacity at a cost of INR 1,500 crore. This development increases the company's total steel production from 1 million tonnes to 1.6 million tonnes, representing a 60 per cent rise in overall capacity.


The company stated that this new facility is expected to contribute significantly to its sales revenue in the coming years. Capacity for coated flat products is set to increase by 60 per cent, while pipe products will see a 40 per cent rise. The production of crash barriers will expand by 75 per cent, reflecting targeted growth in specialized steel segments.

Jindal India is part of the BC Jindal Group, a USD 2.5 billion conglomerate involved in energy, steel, and packaging films. The group has a history of investing in steel infrastructure to meet growing industrial demand and diversify its product offerings. This latest expansion complements its previous capacity-building initiatives and aims to strengthen its presence in the Indian steel market.

The company also highlighted that the facility incorporates modern steel production technologies, aimed at improving efficiency and maintaining product quality across all segments. By enhancing coated flat products, pipes, and crash barrier capacities, Jindal India positions itself to meet both domestic and international demand effectively.
