The Chennai facility will create over 200 positions in data analysis, software development, and quality assurance. The team will handle the cleaning, processing, and delivery of more than one billion maritime data points daily, providing timely and actionable intelligence to customers across the shipping, insurance, finance, and government sectors.
Chennai, with its historic port and the Indian Maritime University, has emerged as a hub for engineering and technology talent. The Tamil Nadu government has backed the project, having signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this month to support the company's expansion.
Founded over 290 years ago in London's Lombard Street, Lloyd's List Intelligence began as a meeting place for sailors, merchants, and shipowners. Today, it operates across four continents, offering platforms like Seasearcher, which enables customers to track vessels, verify ownership, analyze trade patterns, and ensure compliance with sanctions and regulations.
