The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has requested an additional 8,812 square metres of land from the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) for the construction of the Dharuhera station under the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. This revision increases the total land requirement from 16,286 square metres to 20,985 square metres. The redesign aims to enhance multimodal connectivity and ensure a 9-metre access road to the local fire station. The Haryana government has approved the revised Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the corridor.
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has formally requested an additional 8,812 square metres of land from the Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) to facilitate the construction of the Dharuhera station for the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project. This request follows a revision in the station's design, increasing the total land requirement from 16,286 square metres to 20,985 square metres.
The NCRTC communicated this request to HSVP in a letter dated September 9, signed by Kamlesh Kumar Gupta, Chief Project Manager. The revised design aims to improve multimodal connectivity and provide a 9-metre access road to the existing fire station in the area. The additional land is sought on the right-hand side of National Highway 48, which is owned by HSVP.
The Namo Bharat RRTS project is being developed in three phases. The first phase involves a 107-kilometre stretch from Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi to the Shahjahanpur-Neemrana-Behror (SNB) Urban Complex, passing through key regional nodes such as Gurugram, Manesar, Panchgaon, and Rewari. The Haryana government has approved the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this corridor.
In addition to the station at Dharuhera, the NCRTC has been directed by the Haryana government to plan the alignment and signalling systems of the corridor in such a manner that, should a metro system be proposed in the future along the same alignment, the existing track infrastructure may be utilized. This approach is similar to the one implemented in the Delhi-Meerut RRTS project.
The Haryana government has also committed to providing 40 acres of land for the establishment of an RRTS depot at either Pachgaon or Dharuhera, in joint ownership with NCRTC. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Shri Naib Singh Saini to discuss the revised DPRs of the SNB and Delhi-Karnal RRTS projects.
Construction of the RRTS corridor from Sarai Kale Khan to Shahjahanpur-Behror is expected to commence in August 2026, with completion anticipated by November 2031. The revised DPR estimates the cost of the 102-kilometre project at INR 35,000 crore, to be shared by the Government of India and the state governments of Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi.
