The 1.3-lakh sq ft Agartala facility strengthens connectivity across northeastern states and enables cross-border trade with Bangladesh. The expansion forms part of the company's 'Go-East' strategy, supporting economic growth, creating jobs, and enhancing logistics infrastructure in tier-II and tier-III cities.
Mahindra Logistics has recently added more than 4 lakh sq ft of warehousing capacity in Northeast India, covering Guwahati and Agartala, to enhance service to major industrial clusters and transport hubs in the region. This expansion is part of the company's ongoing 'Go-East' strategy, aimed at strengthening logistics and distribution networks in Eastern India.
The Guwahati facility, spanning 3 lakh sq ft, is now the largest Grade-A multi-client warehouse in the Northeast. It also features the region's first Community Centre of Excellence, developed in partnership with the Logistics Skill Council under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. This initiative is intended to improve skills in the logistics workforce and provide training aligned with industry standards, promoting employment opportunities and knowledge development in the region.
The Agartala facility, covering 1.3 lakh sq ft, has been strategically located to enhance connectivity with key consumption and production centers across Tripura, Mizoram, Meghalaya, and Manipur. It also establishes a strong platform for cross-border trade with Bangladesh, supporting supply chain efficiency and regional trade integration. These facilities are designed to improve logistics coverage in tier-II and tier-III cities and facilitate operations in remote areas that previously faced connectivity challenges.
Hemant Sikka, Managing Director & CEO of Mahindra Logistics, said the new facilities demonstrate the company's commitment to redefining the logistics landscape in Eastern India. He highlighted that these warehouses not only expand the distribution network but also serve as gateways to the Northeast, supporting businesses and industries in reaching previously underserved markets.
As part of the 'Go-East' strategy, Mahindra Logistics has already developed 1 million sq ft of multi-client warehousing space across the region. The company plans to extend express logistics services to over 800 pin codes, reflecting its focus on improving accessibility and efficiency across Northeast India. The expansion is expected to create more than 2,000 job opportunities, with a workforce composition that aims for 50 per cent diversity from local communities, ensuring inclusive growth.
