The Haryana government is set to develop advanced warehousing infrastructure at Maharaja Agrasen Airport in Hisar to enhance the storage and export of horticultural produce. This initiative aims to preserve the quality and freshness of crops through controlled temperature storage, thereby boosting agricultural exports and helping farmers achieve better profits. The Haryana State Warehousing Corporation will establish modern cold storage and air cargo facilities at the airport, ensuring that produce meets international standards for export.
Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the government's commitment to increasing farmers' incomes and connecting their produce to global markets. He stated that the new warehouse infrastructure at Hisar Airport would not only provide farmers with a new identity but also play a pivotal role in transforming Haryana into an agricultural export hub. The facility will ensure proper pricing for farmers' produce by maintaining quality through temperature-controlled storage, reducing spoilage, and streamlining export processes.
The project focuses on facilitating the export of perishable crops such as strawberries, guavas, and kinnows, particularly from districts like Hisar, Sirsa, and Fatehabad, which are emerging as horticultural hubs. The development aligns with Haryana's broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading state in horticultural production and export.
The establishment of this warehousing infrastructure is expected to minimize food waste, promote exports, and enhance Haryana's identity as an agricultural export center. By providing farmers with access to modern storage and export facilities, the initiative aims to ensure fair prices for their produce and support the growth of the state's agricultural sector.
