The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) has commenced a significant road development project with an investment of INR 175 crore. This project involves the construction of seven master plan roads, covering a total length of 27 kilometers, designed to enhance connectivity to the forthcoming Bhogapuram International Airport.

The selected routes traverse key areas such as Bheemili, Anandapuram, Gambheeram, and Adavivaram-Sontyam, which are situated near Simhachalam. These roads are expected to alleviate traffic congestion on the national highway leading to the airport, thereby facilitating smoother and quicker access for travelers.

In 2024, during a review meeting in Visakhapatnam, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu emphasized the importance of prioritizing the development of essential connecting master plan roads. He directed authorities to focus on improving connectivity and urban mobility in alignment with the city's development plans. Following this directive, the government approved the proposal submitted by VMRDA for the development of these seven roads.

VMRDA Chairman M. Pranav Gopal and Metropolitan Commissioner K.S. Viswanathan has expressed their commitment to realizing the Chief Minister's vision by developing key infrastructure. They highlighted that these roads will not only improve transportation but also serve as development corridors, fostering growth in sectors such as IT and urban development in the surrounding areas.

The government had earlier instructed VMRDA to consolidate the seven road projects into a single package. In response, VMRDA finalized the tenders for all seven roads simultaneously, streamlining the development process.
