The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated tenders valued at INR 2,200 crore for the construction of two bridges in Mumbai's western suburbs. These projects aim to enhance connectivity and ease traffic congestion. The first project involves the Lagoon Road Bridge, which will connect Malad (West) to Andheri's Lagoon Road, traversing over a mangrove patch and the Poisar River. The second project includes a bridge linking MDP Road to Ryan International School in Kandivali East, along with a new traffic arm connecting the upcoming Coastal Road to Marve Road in Malad.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has initiated tenders amounting to INR 2,200 crore for the construction of two crucial bridges in Mumbai's western suburbs. These projects are part of the broader efforts to improve infrastructure and alleviate traffic congestion in the region.
One of the key projects is the Lagoon Road Bridge, which aims to establish a direct link between Malad (West) and Andheri's Lagoon Road. Currently, the 12-kilometer stretch between these two areas lacks a direct connectivity option, forcing motorists to rely on Link Road, SV Road, or the Western Express Highway. The proposed bridge will originate from behind Infinity Mall in Malad and extend towards Andheri Back Road. It will pass over a hectare of mangrove area and the Poisar River, significantly reducing travel time between the two locations.
The second project involves the construction of a bridge connecting MDP Road to Ryan International School in Kandivali East. This development is expected to ease traffic flow in the area, which experiences heavy vehicular movement throughout the day. Additionally, a new traffic arm will be constructed to connect the upcoming Coastal Road to Marve Road in Malad, further improving connectivity.
In addition to these bridge projects, the BMC is also planning to widen the existing Malad Marve Road between Mahakali Junction and Charkop Naka in Kandivali. This expansion aims to accommodate the increasing traffic demand and improve overall road safety and efficiency in the region.
