Synopsis

Signature Global (India) Ltd. has entered into a partnership with WRI India to pilot innovative dust mitigation strategies at its Daxin project site. The initiative aims to address construction-related emissions that contribute significantly to air pollution in the National Capital Region. By deploying low-cost sensors to track the effectiveness of on-ground practices, the company intends to demonstrate how data-driven solutions can strengthen dust control, safeguard health, and guide policy interventions.

Signature Global (India) Ltd., a major real estate developer, announced earlier this week its collaboration with WRI India for a pilot programme aimed at reducing dust emissions from construction activities. The move reflects the company's ongoing focus on sustainability within the sector.

Lalit Kumar Aggarwal, Co-founder and Vice Chairman of Signature Global, explained that sustainability forms the foundation of the company's operations. He added that the partnership with WRI India was intended to prove how technology-led approaches could make dust mitigation both effective and scalable. He further noted that the initiative at the Daxin project would strengthen on-site practices, inspire other developers, and support policy design for cleaner construction methods.

Construction activities are recognised as a major source of particulate matter emissions (PM10 and PM2.5), largely caused by the resuspension of dust. Such emissions affect the health of workers and worsen air quality across the National Capital Region. Repeated construction bans in the area, implemented to curb severe pollution, have had negative consequences for builders, workers, and homebuyers.

Signature Global has already incorporated several measures including air quality monitoring sensors, regular sprinkling, covering of materials, and training for staff. The partnership with WRI India builds on these steps by introducing a structured pilot study. Low-cost sensors will be installed at Signature Global Daxin under the umbrella of the India Alliance for Clean Construction, which promotes sustainable solutions in the industry. These sensors will help evaluate the success of mitigation techniques and determine how such tools can inform site-level decisions.

By addressing gaps between policy and practice, the company hopes to set benchmarks for other builders to follow. The initiative reinforces Signature Global's role as a leader in embedding environmentally responsible practices while ensuring growth in the real estate sector of the NCR.

The partnership between Signature Global and WRI India highlights the growing urgency of tackling dust-related air pollution in construction. By testing practical, sensor-driven measures, the pilot intends to offer scalable solutions that benefit both industry and communities. With this step, Signature Global strengthens its reputation as a forward-looking developer that is committed to balancing development with environmental responsibility, potentially influencing wider adoption of sustainable practices in the sector.
