Synopsis

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), part of the Tata Group, announced during the past week that it had secured all necessary approvals to begin construction of the Taj Bandstand project in Bandra, Mumbai. The development, worth INR 2,500 crore, will be built on a two-acre parcel of land held under lease by its subsidiary, ELEL Hotels and Investment Limited. The project is planned to feature 330 rooms and 85 apartments, designed to enhance the city's luxury hospitality offering.

Indian Hotels Company Limited has confirmed that it has received all required permissions to commence work on the much-anticipated Taj Bandstand project in Bandra, Mumbai. The company stated in a regulatory filing that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation had granted the first Commencement Certificate, thereby completing the approval process for the development.

The land parcel earmarked for the hotel is held under lease by ELEL Hotels and Investment Limited, a subsidiary of IHCL. With this clearance, construction of the luxury hotel can now begin. The project, unveiled earlier this year by IHCL, is valued at INR 2,500 crore and is set to redefine premium hospitality in the city.

According to earlier plans, the Taj Bandstand development will be spread over two acres and will house 330 rooms along with 85 serviced apartments. IHCL had positioned the project as a major addition to Mumbai's hospitality landscape, underscoring its strategy to expand and strengthen the Taj brand in key urban locations.

The approval granted to IHCL marks a crucial step in bringing the Taj Bandstand project to life. By moving into the construction phase, the company has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding luxury hospitality in Mumbai. With its scale, investment, and prime location at Bandra's Bandstand, the project is expected to set new benchmarks in the city's hotel industry, strengthening IHCL's position as India's largest hospitality operator.
