Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) has announced plans to launch a 310-key Taj hotel in Visakhapatnam, marking the debut of the iconic brand in the coastal city. The greenfield project, developed in partnership with Varun Hospitality Pvt Ltd, reflects IHCL's strategy to expand its footprint in key leisure and business destinations. MD & CEO Puneet Chhatwal said the venture strengthens the company's partnership with Varun Hospitality while adding a landmark property to its portfolio. As Visakhapatnam grows as both a tourist and commercial hub, the new Taj hotel is expected to elevate the city's hospitality landscape with world-class luxury offerings.
Indian Hotels Company Ltd (IHCL) confirmed earlier this week that it had signed an agreement to introduce a 310-key Taj hotel in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The company stated that this new development would bring the iconic Taj brand to the coastal city for the first time, aligning with its strategy of strengthening presence in important leisure and business destinations across the country.
Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, expressed that the company was pleased to deepen its partnership with Varun Hospitality Private Limited through this landmark project. The forthcoming greenfield hotel is set to be the first Taj property in Visakhapatnam, a city gaining significance both as a tourist and commercial hub.
The agreement for a Taj hotel in Visakhapatnam marks a significant step in IHCL's expansion plans, reinforcing its intent to cater to both leisure and business travellers in emerging destinations. By partnering with Varun Hospitality Private Limited, the company is adding another milestone to its growth journey. The project will also enhance the hospitality landscape of Visakhapatnam by introducing one of India's most recognised luxury hotel brands to the city for the first time.
