In a move to provide permanent housing for residents of Ambedkar Layout in Ashokapuram, the Karnataka government will develop a dedicated township across 20 acres. The minister stated that discussions were under way with the Mysuru Development Authority and the local tahsildar to identify suitable land, either within the municipal limits or in close proximity. He added that the Chief Minister had approved financial assistance for the project, including a grant of INR 1 crore to renovate the Community Hall in Ashokapuram and INR 20 crore to complete construction of the long-pending Ambedkar Bhavan.
The township plan includes not only residential infrastructure but also essential civic amenities aimed at holistic community development. Authorities are expected to finalise the land selection and begin project planning in coordination with relevant departments in the coming weeks.
