Synopsis

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has expanded its property tax amnesty scheme 'Shasti Se Azaadi' to cover commercial, industrial, and other property types, in addition to residential ones. Taxpayers who clear all outstanding dues in a single payment by mid-August will receive a 95% waiver on penalty charges, while those paying between mid-August and mid-September will get a 75% waiver. The revised scheme is expected to help CSMC improve its revenue collection, which stood at INR 157.7 crore in property tax and INR 26.3 crore in water tax in the last financial year.

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation has extended its penalty waiver scheme for property tax to include all categories of property residential, commercial, industrial, and others. This update came after repeated requests from local trader bodies, small industry associations, and political leaders who highlighted the financial difficulties faced by business owners.

Earlier, the amnesty scheme was only available to residential property owners. Under the revised plan, those who clear all dues in one go by August 15 will get a 95% waiver on the penalty amount. If payments are made between August 16 and September 15, the penalty waiver will be 75%.

The scheme, titled 'Shasti Se Azaadi' (Freedom from Penalty), was launched with the approval of Municipal Commissioner G Shreekanth and was supported by Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat and Cabinet Minister Atul Save. The scheme applies across all zones in the city.

In the last financial year, CSMC collected INR 157.7 crore in property tax and INR 26.3 crore in water tax. With the broader coverage of the scheme, the corporation expects a significant increase in collections this year.

Property owners can make payments at respective ward offices or through the official online platforms. The civic body has also made provisions for easy access and processing to encourage participation.
