According to officials, the recent surge in illegal dumping has severely impacted several lakes in the city, including the Gotri and Atladra ponds, where large quantities of construction waste were discovered. VMC authorities stated that complaints had been filed by alert citizens, prompting the health department and the solid waste management team to conduct site visits. Following verification, notices were served to private parties responsible for the activity.
In an effort to curb further damage, senior officers have been personally overseeing clean-up efforts and ensuring legal action against the perpetrators. The civic administration conveyed that it has already started removing debris from the affected water bodies and would continue to monitor the sites closely to prevent recurrence.
