IHG Hotels & Resorts confirmed a franchise deal with KGA International Trades for a new Holiday Inn Express in Changanassery, Kerala. The upcoming hotel, set to commence operations in the initial quarter of 2027, will be integrated within KGA Mall - a mixed-use commercial property that is presently under development. Featuring 90 rooms, the property is expected to cater to both business and leisure travellers in the Kottayam region.

The agreement expands IHG's footprint in India's emerging secondary cities. Sudeep Jain, Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts for South West Asia, mentioned that the signing signifies their continued commitment to growth in such markets. He also referred to this as the second collaboration between IHG and the KGA Group, following their earlier venture with Crowne Plaza Kochi.

IHG's current India portfolio comprises 50 operational hotels across six of its international brands. The group is actively progressing on a pipeline of 63 additional hotels, which are planned to be launched over the next three to five years, indicating a robust expansion strategy across the subcontinent.

By embedding the hotel within a larger mixed-use development like KGA Mall, IHG aims to optimize footfall and drive multifaceted value. The renewed partnership with KGA Group underscores a successful business synergy, and with a healthy pipeline of upcoming properties, IHG continues to solidify its presence in India's evolving hospitality landscape.
