The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is preparing to launch an innovative one-window system for building permissions on August 15. This new system, a first of its kind in Maharashtra, aims to simplify the application process for citizens, builders, and architects.

The new system will allow online submissions of building permission applications. Previously, applicants had to visit up to eight different departments, including fire, water, drainage, and the tree department, to get approvals. With the new system, online applications will be automatically sent to the relevant departments.

Officials will have a set time limit to grant permission, and applicants will be able to track the status of their applications online. They will also receive SMS updates on their application's progress. Any missing documents or required changes can be addressed digitally, and final approvals will come with a unique barcode for easy verification.

To ensure fast processing, KDMC has set a 10-day deadline for officials to process files. The Town Planning Department has integrated all involved departments with the government's recently launched Building Plan Management System (BPMS).

Santosh Dohiphode, Additional Town Planner of KDMC, confirmed that KDMC is the first municipal corporation in Maharashtra to implement such a system. He added that all employees have been trained to use the new platform.

KDMC commissioner Abhinav Goel praised the initiative, stating that it promotes transparent governance, efficient service delivery, and planned urban growth, aligning with the "Ease of Doing Business" agenda.

KDMC has a history of pioneering digital governance, having gone digital in 2002, and its e-governance model has received national recognition.
