Synopsis

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has announced a large township project called Varun Vihar, spread over 5,600 acres along the Agra Expressway. The plan includes a 300-acre logistics park with direct connectivity to the expressway and Kisanpath, more than 15,000 residential, commercial, and group-housing plots, and supporting facilities such as an inter-state bus terminal, an international-standard golf course, and a central park. Nearly 800 acres have been earmarked for green belts and water bodies. The project aims to create a balanced township with housing, infrastructure, and employment opportunities.

The Lucknow Development Authority has laid out a detailed plan for Varun Vihar, a township scheme set to cover over 5,600 acres along the Agra Expressway. The development will include a logistics park spanning 300 acres, designed with direct connectivity to both the expressway and Kisanpath. In addition, more than 15,000 plots have been planned across residential, commercial, and group housing categories, making the project one of the most significant urban expansions in the city.

LDA Vice-Chairman Prathamesh Kumar recently visited Dona village to review preparations with officials, engineers, and farmers. He instructed the team to fast-track land acquisition work and mentioned that the scheme is being planned in line with international standards. The vision is to build a township that can serve lakhs of families while also creating opportunities in employment and attracting investment.

The project area extends across multiple villages in the Sadar and Sarojininagar tehsils. These include Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Bahru, Jaliyamau, Madarpur, Ibrahimganj, Nakataura, Gehlwara, Tejkrishna Kheda, Revari, Sakra, and Dona. To strengthen regional transport, the authority has proposed an inter-state bus terminal within the scheme. This is expected to improve movement across the region and support the township's connectivity.

Environmental and recreational planning has also been made part of the project. Nearly 800 acres have been earmarked for green belts, public parks, and water bodies. The blueprint further includes the development of a central park and an international-standard golf course. These features are aimed at maintaining ecological balance while providing leisure and lifestyle facilities for residents.

Varun Vihar is expected to bring together housing, logistics, transport facilities, and recreational areas in one integrated plan. The design reflects an attempt to balance growth with sustainability while supporting the city's increasing demand for housing and urban infrastructure.
