Synopsis

The Uttar Pradesh Minister for Stamp and Registration Affairs clarified this past week that the main reason behind delays in property registrations in Noida and Greater Noida has been the absence of no-objection certificates (NOCs) from developers, rather than inefficiency in the registry department. He noted that once builders secure the necessary NOCs from the respective development authorities, registrations for homebuyers would proceed without delay, ensuring that long-awaited ownership documents could be formalised swiftly. The statement offered much-needed clarity to buyers facing prolonged uncertainty.

The Uttar Pradesh Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Stamp and Court Fee, Registration stated this past week that delays in property registrations in Noida and Greater Noida were not attributable to his department but instead stemmed from disputes between builders and development authorities over no-objection certificates (NOCs).

He explained that the registry department remains ready to process applications as soon as the developers present the required NOCs from the Noida, Greater Noida or Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authorities. The minister pointed out that builders often face issues in securing these certificates, largely because of pending dues or compliance shortcomings.

He emphasised that the responsibility rests with the builders to resolve their outstanding matters with the authorities and obtain clearances. Once the NOCs are in hand, the registry process can proceed immediately, offering timely relief to homebuyers awaiting property ownership documentation.

With the registry department reiterating its readiness to act without delay, the onus now falls on builders to address compliance issues and pending payments. For homebuyers in Noida and Greater Noida, this development signals that registrations are likely to restart promptly once the necessary clearances are secured, bringing long-anticipated legal certainty to property ownership.
