Synopsis

Star Localmart, the retail arm of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, has acquired Bengaluru-based DusMinute, a gated community retail chain, for an undisclosed amount. The deal adds 40 outlets to its network, boosting its footprint to 170 stores, making it the largest regional retail player in Karnataka. The company, already eyeing revenue of INR 5,000 crore in the next five years, has plans to scale up to 3,000 stores by 2030 across multiple states.

Star Localmart, the retail division of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group (SGG), confirmed earlier this week that it had acquired DusMinute, a Bengaluru-based retail chain operating in gated communities, for an undisclosed sum. With this acquisition, Star Localmart's total store count has grown to 170, positioning it as Karnataka's largest regional retail operator.

DusMinute, known for its hyperlocal model, runs stores within residential complexes, offering residents doorstep access to groceries, fruits, vegetables, dairy and household essentials. The deal includes 40 operational DusMinute outlets, with additional stores expected to open shortly.

Star Localmart is pursuing opportunities across tier II to tier VI cities, where it sees strong growth potential. The company has recently revealed expansion plans across Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, targeting a revenue of INR 5,000 crore over the next five years.

The group also aims to scale its operations significantly, with a long-term goal of reaching 3,000 stores by 2030. Shrenik Ghodawat, Managing Director of SGG, stated that by combining DusMinute's hyperlocal platform with the company's expanding store network, they were better positioned to meet evolving consumer needs while reinforcing leadership in the retail sector.

The company's expansion plans across several states, its revenue goal of INR 5,000 crore, and its ambitious target of 3,000 stores by 2030 highlight a growth-driven vision. By integrating DusMinute's community-based model, Star Localmart has positioned itself to cater to shifting consumer expectations and consolidate its leadership in regional retail.
