Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu has emphasized accelerating welfare housing schemes to provide 10 lakh homes to underprivileged citizens by March 2026. The state has already allocated over INR 2,013 crore for these projects, with additional funds needed for infrastructure development in partially completed layouts. Authorities are instructed to identify land and beneficiaries quickly and categorize projects based on urgency and progress. A significant number of homes under central schemes like PMAY-Urban, PMAY-Gramin, and PM Janman have been completed, with more expected to be handed over shortly.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to expedite welfare housing projects aimed at supporting the state's economically weaker sections. He set a target to complete 10 lakh homes by March 2026 and outlined short-term goals of handing over three lakh homes next month and an additional two lakh homes by the Sankranti festival.
To ensure smooth implementation, the government has decided to categorize ongoing projects into three groups A, B, and C based on progress and urgency. Officials have also been asked to prepare a detailed list of homeless families within the next 15 days and to identify suitable land for beneficiaries. For rural areas, three cents of land per family will be allocated, and for urban areas, two cents per family.
The state has allocated over INR 2,013 crore for housing schemes this year, but an additional INR 3,296 crore is required to upgrade infrastructure in 4,305 layouts where more than half the houses are already completed. Infrastructure improvements include roads, drainage systems, and other essential amenities to make these settlements fully livable.
In the Kuppam constituency, about INR 16 crore has been disbursed to 4,647 beneficiaries, while nearly INR 919 crore will soon be transferred to approximately three lakh beneficiaries across the state. More than 18 lakh houses sanctioned under central schemes such as PMAY-Urban, PMAY-Gramin, and PM Janman have seen 9.5 lakh completions so far. Out of these, nearly three lakh homes were delivered this year, with another 19,000 homes expected next month.
The government has also allocated INR 100 crore for 15,753 houses under the PM Janman scheme and INR 75 crore for 15,582 houses under PMAY-Gramin. These efforts are aimed not only at providing safe housing but also at ensuring access to clean drinking water, better education, healthcare, nutrition, road and telecom connectivity, electrification of unelectrified households, and opportunities for sustainable livelihoods for the underprivileged.
