Genus Power Infrastructure reported a standalone net profit of INR 128.5 crore for the June quarter, a sharp increase from INR 40.7 crore recorded in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. This more than threefold growth was driven by a significant rise in revenue and improved operational performance.
The company's revenue surged to INR 942.4 crore during the quarter, up from INR 414.2 crore in the corresponding period last year. Genus Power, known for its smart meter solutions, attributed the strong financial performance to higher sales volumes and efficiency gains despite facing higher finance costs during the period.
In a statement, the company said the profit after tax from continuing operations increased more than three times compared to the last year's first quarter. This reflects not only higher sales but also strong operational execution, which helped mitigate the impact of increased financial expenses.
Over the past few years, Genus Power has expanded its presence in India's smart energy metering sector, benefiting from the country's push towards energy efficiency and modernization of electricity infrastructure. The company's ability to deliver robust revenue growth alongside improved profitability in this quarter highlights its operational strength and market demand for smart metering solutions.
The growth in revenue was fueled by increased adoption of smart meters and other products, as utilities and industries accelerate their shift towards digital energy management. Despite challenges such as rising finance costs, Genus Power managed to improve its bottom line by focusing on cost efficiency and operational effectiveness.
This quarterly performance demonstrates the company's steady progress in consolidating its position as a leading player in the smart metering industry. The surge in profit and revenue is also a sign of the increasing acceptance and deployment of advanced metering infrastructure in India's power sector, driven by government initiatives and growing demand for energy monitoring and management solutions.
