Schneider Electric has revealed plans to establish a 500,000 sq. ft. manufacturing unit at Horizon Industrial Park in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, reinforcing its dedication to the 'Make in India' initiative. Developed in partnership with Blackstone-backed Horizon Industrial Parks, the facility will focus on producing battery management systems and related electronics. With features like rooftop solar panels, EV charging stations, and smart lighting, the eco-conscious plant will be built in two phases. This strategic expansion is expected to employ 1,500 individuals and boost Schneider's operational efficiency across southern India.
Schneider Electric, a global leader in energy management and automation, has partnered with Horizon Industrial Parks to develop a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Situated near Shoolagiri and strategically located along the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway, the facility will be developed in phases within Horizon Industrial Park-a logistics hub backed by Blackstone Real Estate funds.
Spanning 500,000 square feet, the new site will cater to the Schneider Electric IT Business segment and will be dedicated to the manufacturing, sales, and trading of Battery Management Products. These will include Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Power Distribution Units (PDU), cooling solutions, and associated electronic accessories. The strategic location provides excellent connectivity to both Chennai and Bengaluru, boosting operational and logistical efficiency.
The construction will be carried out in two phases. The first will comprise a dust-free facility, outfitted with a modern office area and tenant-specific improvements such as enhanced power supply capacity, high-grade fire safety systems, and optimised workspaces. It is planned to support an initial workforce of 1,500 people, including direct and indirect employment. The second phase is slated to deliver a custom-built, high-spec facility tailored for Schneider Electric's advanced operations, expected to be completed in the next seven months.
Deepak Sharma, Zone President for Greater India and the MD and CEO of Schneider Electric India, expressed that the collaboration with Horizon Industrial Parks reflects the company's commitment to building an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat.' He added that the facility would play a crucial role in expanding their manufacturing footprint while integrating advanced technologies and sustainable practices.
Horizon Industrial Park Hosur, which has already secured a Platinum pre-certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), is known for its environmentally responsible infrastructure. Schneider Electric?s upcoming facility will follow suit with features such as rooftop solar panels, glass wool insulation, skylights for enhanced daylighting, and superior ventilation systems. Additional sustainability measures include smart light sensors, HVAC control systems, EV charging stations, and an integrated Building Management System (BMS). Solar installations in the next construction phase will further elevate the plant's thermal efficiency and reduce its environmental impact.
Urvish Rambhia, Principal at Blackstone Real Estate, stated that the partnership with Schneider Electric reflects their commitment to offering tailored, quality-driven warehousing solutions to corporations growing their footprint in India. He also highlighted that this collaboration aligns with their goal of delivering innovative industrial infrastructure solutions.
This facility is set to play a pivotal role in Schneider Electric's long-term growth strategy in India by strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities, creating job opportunities, and driving innovation in clean, efficient energy solutions.
