Biopharmaceutical major AstraZeneca has expanded its global hub in Bengaluru, investing INR 166 crore and creating 400 additional jobs to enhance its focus on Research and Development, global services, and AI-led innovation. The latest expansion brings the employee count at the facility to nearly 1,300.


In an official statement, the company highlighted that the upgraded hub will strengthen its AI-driven innovation capabilities across R&D, global business services, IT infrastructure, and digital health operations. These efforts are aligned with AstraZeneca's broader global strategy to accelerate advanced, data-driven, and patient-centric healthcare solutions.

Jackie Crockford, Vice President of Global Business Services at AstraZeneca, noted that the Bengaluru hub represents a strategic investment. She mentioned that the facility will significantly support the company?s ambition to bring 20 new medicines to market by 2030, with a focus on automation and scalability to meet patient needs efficiently.

This development follows another substantial investment by the company in India, with the recent expansion of its Global Innovation and Technology Centre (GITC) in Chennai, indicating a growing emphasis on leveraging India?s tech ecosystem for global pharmaceutical innovation.

AstraZeneca confirmed that with the latest additions, the total workforce at AstraZeneca India Pvt Ltd (AZIPL) is approaching 4,000 employees. This growing base is expected to reinforce the company's ability to deliver life-changing treatments to patients around the world, underlining India?s strategic importance in its global operations.
