Synopsis

The Maharashtra Industrial Township Ltd (MITL) has allotted more than 60 acres of land in the Bidkin node of Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) to six companies planning a combined investment of INR 1,261.2 crore. The industrial units will focus on manufacturing auto components, steam boilers, and solar cells, potentially generating 3,288 direct jobs. Junna Solar Systems Ltd has emerged as the largest investor among them with an investment of INR 400 crore. The region has so far seen 185 land allotments, 79 of which are already operational.

Over the past week, Maharashtra Industrial Township Ltd (MITL) has allocated more than 60 acres of land to six companies within the Bidkin node of the Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC).

AURIC, a flagship greenfield smart industrial city project near Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, spans 10,000 acres. It is part of India's first operational greenfield smart city model, designed under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor initiative. MITL, the Special Purpose Vehicle managing both the Shendra and Bidkin nodes of AURIC, oversees industrial land development across 11,000 acres in the region.

According to a senior official, the six companies receiving land in Bidkin are set to collectively invest INR 1,261.2 crore. Of these, three will establish facilities to produce automobile components, while the remaining will focus on manufacturing steam boilers and solar cells.

The official disclosed that the upcoming projects are expected to generate 3,288 direct employment opportunities. Junna Solar Systems Ltd leads this investment push with a proposed outlay of INR 400 crore, earmarked for a solar cell manufacturing unit.

According to the same source, the Shendra and Bidkin nodes have together drawn cumulative investments totalling approximately INR 85,000 crore, leading to the creation of around 48,000 jobs so far.

MITL has allotted land to 185 companies up to this point, with 79 of them already operational and contributing to production, indicating the pace of industrial progress in the region.

With significant investments and job creation on the horizon, the region continues to strengthen its industrial appeal. As more firms initiate operations, the success of AURIC's smart city framework could serve as a model for future industrial townships across India, furthering economic decentralisation and regional development.
