Synopsis

Gentari has commissioned a 150 MW open-access solar power plant in Wardha, Maharashtra-one of the state's largest for commercial and industrial (C&I) users. The facility will generate around 248 million units of clean electricity annually, reducing over 2.38 lakh tonnes of CO emissions-equivalent to removing thousands of cars from the roads. With this project, Gentari's total solar capacity for C&I clients in the state exceeds 225 MW. Sharad Pungalia, Gentari's India head, highlighted strong demand for reliable green energy. The project supports the company's wider sustainability strategy, which includes solar, green hydrogen, and clean mobility solutions across India and the Asia-Pacific.

In a significant move for Maharashtra's renewable energy sector, Gentari has successfully commissioned a 150 MW open-access solar power plant in Wardha. Positioned as one of the largest installations of its kind for commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers in the state, the project promises to bolster clean energy consumption among industries and reduce dependence on conventional power sources.

The solar facility is expected to generate approximately 248 million units (kWh) of green electricity annually, translating into a reduction of over 238,576 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This environmental impact is comparable to removing tens of thousands of cars from the roads annually, offering substantial climate benefits.

With the new project going operational, Gentari's total solar capacity catering to C&I clients in Maharashtra has now crossed 225 MW, reinforcing the company's growing foothold in the state's clean energy market.

Sharad Pungalia, Country Head India at Gentari, noted that the demand for clean power solutions from industrial and commercial customers in Maharashtra has been gaining strong traction. He said the project plays a vital role in supporting this transition by delivering scalable and dependable solar power, providing both environmental and operational advantages to end-users.

This new development is part of Gentari's broader renewable energy strategy across India and the Asia-Pacific, which spans integrated offerings in solar power, green hydrogen, and sustainable mobility. Over recent years, Gentari has accelerated its push into clean infrastructure, aligning with global efforts to transition towards a low-carbon future.
