The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) of Brihanmumbai has introduced SoftTech Engineers' AutoDCR Online Building Permission System to digitalise and expedite the approval process for slum redevelopment projects. Designed to replace traditional manual procedures, this automation aims to reduce processing time, enhance transparency, and ensure regulatory compliance. Developed by SoftTech Engineers Limited, a pioneer in AEC tech solutions, the platform enables online submission and scrutiny of building plans. The initiative reflects SRA's broader commitment to technological integration for better urban governance and improved living conditions in rehabilitation zones.
The Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) of Brihanmumbai has taken a decisive step towards modernising its approach to urban redevelopment by officially deploying the AutoDCR Online Building Permission System developed by SoftTech Engineers Limited. This platform is set to overhaul the way slum rehabilitation proposals are reviewed and approved, signalling a shift from traditional, paper-heavy methods to a more digital, efficient framework.
SoftTech's AutoDCR is a web-based system tailored to automate the scrutiny of building plans and permit processes. Through this platform, developers can now submit proposals digitally, eliminating the bottlenecks associated with manual verification. This transition is expected to not only speed up approval timelines but also ensure greater accuracy and compliance with building regulations.
Vijay Gupta, Managing Director and CEO of SoftTech Engineers, remarked that the launch goes beyond simply digitising a procedure. He emphasised that the initiative aimed to reshape how cities respond to vulnerable communities, prioritising speed, clarity, and accountability. He added that their goal was to create tools that empower better decision-making and drive tangible improvements on the ground.
SoftTech Engineers Limited, the company behind the AutoDCR platform, has deep roots in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction) domain. Vijay Gupta, the firm's founder and an alumnus of IIT Mumbai with a Master's degree in Technology, has been a vocal proponent of using technology to drive transparency and efficiency in infrastructure and building projects. With over 35 years of experience in developing BIM, CAD, CAE, and project management software, he has spearheaded several innovations that bridge the gap between public systems and private sector needs.
The adoption of this system aligns with SRA's long-term vision to embed advanced technology into municipal governance frameworks. By shifting to a paperless, online approval process, the authority is seeking to improve transparency and promote ease of doing business in the construction and real estate sectors.
