Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) has rolled out key reforms to protect homebuyers and strengthen its role in the state's growing real estate market. A major change mandates district collectors to include RERA enforcement in monthly reviews, integrating local administrative machinery with ORERA operations. The housing department will now collaborate with the revenue and disaster management departments to enforce penalties under the Orissa Public Demands Recovery Act. ORERA Chairperson Asit Kumar Mohapatra emphasized institutional strengthening and state coordination as top priorities. He also highlighted the importance of raising public awareness to ensure the success of these reforms and improve buyer confidence.

Recently, the Odisha Real Estate Regulatory Authority (ORERA) introduced a series of significant reforms aimed at safeguarding homebuyers' interests and enhancing the authority's operational framework within the state's expanding real estate market. These changes are poised to bring increased stability and confidence to property transactions across Odisha.

One of the pivotal reforms involves the integration of local enforcement wings directly with ORERA. District collectors are now required to include RERA provisions as a permanent agenda item in their monthly reviews. Furthermore, the housing and urban development department will work in close coordination with the revenue and disaster management department to ensure the robust execution of penalties, as stipulated by the Orissa Public Demands Recovery Act of 1962.

Asit Kumar Mohapatra, who was appointed ORERA chairperson in May of this year, conveyed that strengthening the authority stands as their foremost priority. He elaborated that collaborating with the state machinery is crucial for ORERA's overall effectiveness. Mohapatra also underscored that public awareness is a vital element for the success of these comprehensive efforts.
