Synopsis

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with the Dubai-based Rais Hassan Saadi (RHS) Group to explore collaborative opportunities in the overseas shipping and logistics domain. The agreement aims to provide fully integrated, cost-effective, and seamless end-to-end logistics services across international markets, with a specific focus on improving multimodal connectivity. Leveraging CONCOR's expertise in inland containerized freight and RHS Group's stronghold in global shipping and freight forwarding, the partnership is poised to enhance India's presence in global logistics corridors and contribute to a more connected and efficient international supply chain framework.

Container Corporation of India Ltd (CONCOR), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has entered into a strategic partnership with Dubai-based Rais Hassan Saadi (RHS) Group, one of the oldest and most established maritime logistics companies in the Middle East, to jointly explore overseas opportunities in the international shipping and logistics space. The two organisations formalised their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) over the past weekend.

The agreement outlines a framework for cooperation in developing and delivering integrated logistics services beyond Indian territory, particularly focusing on multimodal transport solutions that connect sea, rail, and road freight systems across geographies. In an official exchange filing, CONCOR stated that the objective of this partnership is to offer seamless, efficient, and cost-effective end-to-end logistics services that enhance international multimodal connectivity.

This development brings together two distinct but complementary strengths: CONCOR's longstanding expertise in inland container depots, terminal management, and rail-based logistics in India, and RHS Group's extensive experience in global maritime services, freight forwarding, and shipping operations. RHS, headquartered in Dubai, operates across the Middle East, North Africa, and other key trade regions, and is known for its strategic port handling and customs clearance capabilities.

Speaking about the collaboration, CONCOR's Chairman and Managing Director, Sanjay Swarup, said that the MoU facilitates the company's vision of delivering seamless logistics solutions for customers engaged in cross-border trade. He noted that international connectivity is essential to India's goal of becoming a global logistics hub, and this partnership represents a tangible step toward that ambition.

The timing of this collaboration is significant. As global supply chains continue to diversify and regional trade corridors gain prominence, Indian logistics firms like CONCOR are expanding their footprint beyond domestic boundaries. The company has been exploring similar partnerships in Central Asia, Iran, and the Gulf region to align with India's broader trade and connectivity ambitions, including the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and initiatives connecting to the Middle East and CIS nations.

The partnership also reflects a shift in CONCOR's strategic orientation from a domestic logistics operator to a global logistics integrator. While the MoU does not commit to specific projects immediately, it sets the stage for potential joint ventures, infrastructure investments, and operational linkages in ports and logistics hubs internationally.

RHS Group, founded in 1910, brings more than a century of experience and currently operates across multiple trade verticals, including ship agency, project cargo handling, non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) services, and bonded warehousing. This makes it an ideal partner for CONCOR's global logistics ambitions.
