Synopsis

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated plans to set up a massive 5,610-acre industrial township along the Agra Expressway, spanning areas in Sadar and Sarojininagar tehsils. The township is expected to house over 200,000 residents and create employment in industrial, healthcare, logistics, and education sectors. Officials held discussions with stakeholders from 12 villages regarding land acquisition, infrastructure expectations, and land record corrections. This project is part of the state's broader efforts to develop high-growth corridors through strategic infrastructure investments, including expressways, link roads, and industrial corridors aimed at propelling Uttar Pradesh towards its USD 1 trillion economic target.

To boost Lucknow's industrial footprint, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has announced plans for a sprawling industrial township along the Agra Expressway. The township will cover an area of approximately 5,610 acres across the Sadar and Sarojininagar tehsils. The project, part of the state's ambitious Urban Expansion Scheme, is expected to become a catalyst for industrial activity and urbanisation along this key transport corridor.

Earlier this week, LDA officials convened meetings with stakeholders from twelve villages Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Madarpur, Dona, and others identified for land acquisition. The discussions included village pradhans, landowners, and gram panchayat members. During these interactions, residents were informed that the proposed township will accommodate residential infrastructure for more than 200,000 people and provide substantial employment opportunities across diverse sectors including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and education.

Residents from the proposed project area raised a range of concerns and demands during these consultations. They requested proper internal roads, drainage systems, public parks, community health centres, cremation grounds, schools, and water bodies to be incorporated into the township design. The LDA assured participants that these demands would be given due consideration and factored into the master planning process.

The authority also acknowledged that in certain villages, land records are either outdated or contain inaccuracies, and instances of unauthorised plotting have been reported. Officials confirmed that joint teams would be deployed to update revenue records and correct discrepancies, ensuring transparency and clarity in the land acquisition process.

An LDA official elaborated that the project would be executed in two distinct phases. The plan is to attract significant private investment into the region and create large-scale employment hubs. The initiative also aligns with the Uttar Pradesh government's broader objective of enhancing connectivity-led growth by developing industrial nodes along expressway corridors.
