Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, in collaboration with Keystone Resorts Pvt. Ltd., has opened the Fairmont Udaipur Palace in the Aravalli Hills. Spanning 18 acres, the property includes 327 rooms, eight culinary destinations, seven event venues, a wellness sanctuary, and detailed Rajasthani craftsmanship. The palace pays homage to Rajasthan's cultural legacy through architecture, rituals, and art, while offering immersive stays and curated experiences for weddings, wellness, and leisure. This launch marks a significant addition to Fairmont's presence in India and redefines luxury hospitality in Udaipur.
Set against the Aravalli Hills, the newly launched Fairmont Udaipur Palace reflects a blend of timeless Rajputana heritage and contemporary opulence. Developed in partnership with Keystone Resorts Pvt. Ltd., the 18-acre estate has been meticulously designed as a living palace rather than a conventional hotel, incorporating local art, culture, and craftsmanship into every corner.
The property offers 327 guest rooms and suites across three themed wings-Surya Mahal (Sun Palace), Chandra Mahal (Moon Palace), and Agni Mahal (Fire Palace)-each paying tribute to elemental forces with tailored architectural styles. Visitors arrive through the imposing Raj Dwar, a gateway inspired by Mewar fortresses, setting the stage for a royal experience amid domes, chhatris, stepwells, and terraces that open up to panoramic views.
Fairmont's CEO, Omer Acar, noted that the palace embodies the brand's dedication to culturally resonant luxury and marks a key milestone for Fairmont's India footprint. Udaipur, widely recognised for its lakes, palaces and romantic legacy, now hosts this destination where modern royalty can immerse in bespoke service and artisan-rich surroundings.
Every part of the hotel reflects local tradition-from Thikri mirror work panels to hand-embroidered artworks by village artisans. The leopard, symbolic of the palace, is present in sculptures and installations, representing resilience and quiet power.
According to Somesh Agarwal, Chairman and Managing Director of ROCKWOOD Hotels & Resorts, the vision extended beyond constructing a hotel. He described the palace as a "world within a world", meant to capture the essence of Indian hospitality while elevating Udaipur as a global luxury destination. He added that this project serves as both a personal homage and a wider contribution to the region's tourism economy.
Guests can choose from an array of accommodations, including rooms with plunge pools, private terraces, and signature suites like the Jewel of Udaipur and Royal Maharaja and Maharani suites. These offer exclusive features such as bespoke interiors, dedicated pools, and sweeping hill views.
On the culinary front, the palace houses eight experiential dining concepts. Bahaar delivers all-day regional comfort cuisine, while Dahaad-a leopard-themed bar-echoes Rajasthani folklore. Other highlights include Sitara for sunset cocktails, Zaika for elevated Indian flavours, and The Ivory Pool Bar for relaxed poolside dining. Two additional restaurants, Celeste and The Alchemist, focusing on Asian and Mediterranean cuisine respectively, are set to open in the coming months.
For celebrations, Fairmont Udaipur Palace features over 1,40,000 sq. ft. of event space. Jewel, its grand ballroom, connects to expansive terraces and gardens, while other venues such as Mehfil, Jashn Bagh, Noor Bagh, and Chand Baori cater to weddings, music nights, and cultural performances. The palace also offers seven executive meeting spaces and themed terraces for private gatherings.
Wellness is a central theme, with 12,000 sq. ft. Fairmont Spa & Salon and Fit Gym drawing inspiration from natural cycles and Ayurvedic philosophy. Signature treatments combine aromatherapy, herbal infusions, and curated massage rituals using bespoke oils. Recreational offerings include Rendezvous, an activity zone with mini golf, pickleball, paddleball, and a kids' play area, along with a private helipad for seamless guest arrivals.
Vishrut Gupta, General Manager of Fairmont Udaipur Palace, highlighted that the palace was envisioned as an emotionally stirring and culturally immersive destination. Every detail-from design to experience-was curated to create lasting memories, offering a unique blend of hospitality, artistry, and regional storytelling.
This property also strengthens Fairmont's presence in India. With an illustrious history of operating iconic hotels worldwide-from The Plaza in New York to The Savoy in London-Fairmont is recognised for its distinctive character, cultural integration, and sustainability in hospitality. The brand is part of Accor Group, which operates over 5,600 properties in more than 110 countries.
Rockwood Hotels & Resorts, the local development partner, has a legacy of creating experiential retreats including Radisson Blu Udaipur. With this launch, Rockwood extends its commitment to preserving Indian heritage through luxury infrastructure while boosting destination tourism in Rajasthan.
More than just a destination for opulent stays, the palace reimagines the experience of travel through a deeply curated narrative of heritage, wellness, and immersive celebration. The project reinforces Udaipur's global appeal and offers a benchmark for destination-led tourism in India. With its architectural grandeur, sustainable vision, and commitment to artisanal authenticity, the palace sets a new precedent in redefining royal hospitality for contemporary travellers.
