The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation carried out a demolition drive against unauthorised sheds in Turbhe after the occupants ignored prior notices. Under instructions from Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and supervision by Additional Commissioner Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner Dr Kailas Gaikwad, the encroachment department undertook the operation. A team comprising local civic officers, security personnel, and police officials ensured the removal was carried out smoothly using 21 labourers and a JCB machine.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) undertook a demolition operation against unauthorised structures in the Turbhe area following persistent non-compliance with issued notices. Despite having been notified within a specific timeframe to voluntarily remove the encroachments, the occupants failed to take any action, prompting the civic body to proceed with enforced removal.
The drive was initiated as per the directions of Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde. Additional Commissioner (Zone 2) Dr Rahul Gethe and Deputy Commissioner (Encroachment) Dr Kailas Gaikwad oversaw the entire process. The encroachment department executed the operation with the support of Turbhe Assistant Municipal Commissioner Sagar More, police personnel, enforcement officers, and security guards.
For the removal process, the civic body deployed a team of 21 labourers and a JCB machine to dismantle the unauthorised sheds. The structures in question were completely removed as part of the targeted encroachment clearance.
The corporation has confirmed that similar anti-encroachment drives will be carried out more rigorously going forward, suggesting a firm stance against illegal occupations across the city. Such measures have become more frequent as part of the NMMC?s broader campaign to reclaim public spaces and enforce civic planning regulations.
With enforcement operations becoming more aggressive and systematic, the civic body is aiming to strengthen legal land use and uphold order in urban development. Officials have reiterated that non-compliance with issued notices will continue to attract strict action, highlighting a larger commitment to maintain encroachment-free zones across Navi Mumbai.
