Synopsis

Gurugram's Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has taken action against unauthorized structures built by Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), including demolishing a religious structure in Suncity Avenue, Sector 102. This comes amidst observations of RWAs constructing illegal structures in common areas for personal or social uses, violating housing laws. Authorities plan to seek stricter action and recommend appointing administrators to such RWAs to prevent further encroachments. The move aims to ensure compliance across group housing societies and protect residents' interests.

The Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in Gurugram has recently intensified its enforcement against unauthorized structures built by Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs). This action, seen across various group housing societies in Gurugram, aims to address violations in common areas and ensure adherence to building codes.

The DTCP recently demolished an unauthorized religious structure that had been built by the former RWA of Suncity Avenue in Sector 102. This action followed complaints from residents.

Officials from the DTCP have observed a trend of RWAs undertaking illegal constructions in common areas of group housing societies. These structures are often built for the personal convenience of RWA members or for social and religious purposes, which violates the Haryana Apartment Ownership Act and building bye-laws.

To address this issue, authorities plan to bring the matter up in an upcoming task force meeting with the deputy commissioner. They have urged the district societies group to take stricter action. A recommendation will also be made to appoint administrators in such RWAs, aiming to curb illegal encroachments.

The DTCP has stated that if RWAs continue to misuse their powers and encourage illegal encroachments, they may have no choice but to appoint administrators to monitor and regulate their functioning, ensuring order and protecting residents' interests.

Residents have welcomed the DTCP's action and called for strict compliance across all group housing societies in Gurugram. Maintaining the integrity of common areas in housing societies is important for all residents. Such unauthorized constructions affect shared amenities, safety, and overall living conditions.
