The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has launched a weekly e-Khata Abhiyan every Friday to address delays in issuing e-Khatas. This initiative follows public frustration and concerns from real estate stakeholders regarding technical glitches. The MCC aims to issue at least 1 lakh e-Khatas by the end of the current fiscal year, from approximately 1.7 lakh properties. Public and real estate sectors remain critical of civic agencies' preparedness, citing unawareness of rule modifications and server issues among officials, which has affected property transactions.
The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has recently initiated a weekly drive aimed at improving property record services. Every Friday afternoon, this effort is dedicated to tackling significant delays and public frustration in issuing digital property certificates across Mysuru, Karnataka, by streamlining the e-Khata application process.
The initiative comes in response to widespread public frustration and concerns from real estate stakeholders. Technical glitches, particularly server and login issues, have affected the e-Khata application process since early June. The MCC aims to issue at least 1 lakh e-Khatas by the end of the current fiscal year. There are approximately 1.7 lakh properties within MCC limits. As of June 3, only around 45,000 e-Khatas had been issued.
Officials at revenue offices are often unaware of rule modifications and frequently cite server issues as reasons for delays. This situation has reportedly brought the real estate sector in and around Mysuru to a standstill, making it difficult to obtain e-Khatas, especially for those needing to sell properties urgently.
Digitalization of property records, while aimed at improving transparency and efficiency, can face implementation challenges, including technical issues and staff training. Delays in obtaining essential property documents can significantly affect real estate transactions and so it is equally important to educate the audiences about the same.
