IndusInd Bank and Aadhar Housing push for inclusive banking with women-run branches

Synopsis

IndusInd Bank has opened its 12th all-women branch in India, located at Saveetha Dental College in Chennai. Spanning 1,300 sq ft, the branch is managed by five women officers and offers a full suite of retail banking services. The initiative aims to create a more inclusive, women-friendly banking environment. Separately, Aadhar Housing Finance launched its first all-women-operated branch in Indore, staffed by nine women. The company plans to open 12 more such branches nationwide this year. Aadhar currently operates 46 branches in Madhya Pradesh, with assets under management of INR 2,750 crore-projected to grow to INR 3,200 crore by the fiscal year-end.

Private sector lender IndusInd Bank recently inaugurated an all-women bank branch in Chennai city to offer retail banking services. Spread across 1,300 sq ft, the branch, located within the premises of Saveetha Dental College, Velappanchavadi, is the bank's 12th all-women branch in the country.


Managed by a team of five dedicated women officers, the branch will offer a full range of retail banking services, including the opening of savings and current accounts, fixed deposits, and credit facilities, the bank said in a press release.

Commenting on the launch of the all-women branch, IndusInd Bank Head-Branch Banking and Home Markets, Vineet Dhar, said, "This initiative is a testament to our sustained vision of creating an inclusive and equitable banking ecosystem."

"Through such branches, we aim to provide a platform where women customers can avail themselves of banking services in a more comfortable and convenient space, encouraging greater participation of women in the financial ecosystem," he added.

Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences Founder and Chancellor N M Veeraiyan formally inaugurated the branch in the presence of The Pupil Saveetha Eco School Director Dr Saveetha and Saveetha School of Engineering Director Dr Ramya. As of March 31, 2025, IndusInd Bank operates over 800 branches in southern India, the release said.

In related news, Aadhar Housing Finance has launched its first all-women-operated branch in Indore. "This is the first among our nearly 600 branches across the country to be entirely managed by women," its managing director and chief executive officer Rishi Anand told reporters at the launch.

The company has appointed nine women staff members, ranging from the branch head to trainees and intends to open 12 more such branches across India during this financial year.

Aadhar Housing Finance currently has 46 branches in Madhya Pradesh. The company's assets under management (AUM) in the state currently stand at Rs 2,750 crore and are expected to rise to around Rs 3,200 crore by the end of the current financial year.
