IREC 2026 will spotlight Hyderabad's smart-city progress, host investor roundtables, and showcase landmark projects. With themes like proptech, ESG, and global investment, the event highlights India's growing leadership in real estate. High-level government participation and global media coverage are also expected.

India has won the bid to host a major international real estate conference. The 7th edition of the International Real Estate Conference (IREC) will take place in Hyderabad, Telangana, in September 2026. This development aims to bring together global leaders in the property sector and showcase the nation's market.

The National Association of REALTORS-India (NAR-INDIA) will lead the event in association with the Hyderabad Realtors Association (HRA). IREC, organized under the U.S.-based National Association of REALTORS (NAR), serves as the world's most influential biennial gathering of real estate leaders, investors, developers, and academics. Since its launch in Asia in 2015, IREC has been hosted in various cities, including Manila, Bangkok, Incheon, Hanoi, Tokyo, and most recently in Kuala Lumpur in 2024. The 2024 event focused on the theme: "Bridging Borders, Building Opportunities."

NAR-INDIA's successful bid was led by Vice Chairman Tarun Bhatia, who chairs the Global Affairs Sub-Committee, with support from President Amit Chopra. The Indian delegation presented its case at IREC 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, where they hosted a well-received session titled "India- Overview & Opportunities." This session generated significant interest from global investors. During IREC 2024, NAR-INDIA's leadership, including Chairman Sumanth Reddy and Tarun Bhatia, also led discussions on global investment frameworks and technological innovations.

The event resulted in an increase in International Realtor Memberships and new collaborations. Hyderabad, recognized as one of Asia's dynamic metro hubs, will use IREC 2026 to showcase its smart-city innovations and infrastructure projects. It will also host investor roundtables to connect global capital with Indian opportunities, and thought leadership forums on proptech, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and cross-border real estate. Curated site visits to Hyderabad's landmark projects will offer on-ground experiences. High-level government participation from both central and state urban development ministries is also expected.

IREC is considered a strategic platform that aligns global real estate ecosystems, covering aspects from finance and regulation to technology and education. By bringing this forum to India, NAR-INDIA aims to convey that India is not only participating in the global real estate conversation but also taking a leading role.

The event is expected to draw over 600 international delegates, including C-suite executives, government officials, institutional investors, and global media. This will highlight India's evolution into a mature, globally connected real estate market.

Sumanth Reddy, Chairman of NAR-India, reportedly stated that hosting IREC 2026 is a moment of national pride, cementing India's position as a premier investment destination. He added that Hyderabad is expected to deliver an unforgettable global experience, and India's real estate story is ready for global collaboration, with winning IREC 2026 confirming India's growing stature and readiness.

Tarun Bhatia, Vice Chairman and Chair of Global Affairs for NAR-India, reportedly said their Kuala Lumpur presentation showcased India's readiness on a world stage. He added that winning IREC 2026 reaffirms investor confidence and global standing, and past National Conventions demonstrated their ability to host such events.

NAR President Amit Chopra reportedly stated that this is India's moment to shine before global real estate leaders, and that hosting IREC 2026 allows them to showcase India's dynamic sectors and investor-ready environment. He also added that they look forward to strong participation from the Government of India and top industry leaders.

NAR-INDIA, founded in 2008, is the apex body for Indian real estate practitioners, affiliated with NAR Global and interconnected with organizations such as CREDAI, NAREDCO, and the National Housing Bank. It has a network of over 40 state and regional associations and over 50,000 members, promoting professionalism, ethics, and global engagement.

The Hyderabad Realtors Association (HRA), established in 2006, represents the region's real estate professionals, promoting ethical brokerage, capacity building, and sustainable urban development practices.
