Gurugram authorities, specifically the District Town Planner (enforcement) team, have recently issued hundreds of notices to property owners. These actions, part of an enforcement drive in various residential areas across the city, aim to address violations of local regulations concerning home businesses and building codes by identifying unauthorized activities and structural changes.
The authorities issued 266 notices to homeowners. This recent action contributed to a total of over 650 notices issued in the past three weeks. The 'office on the spot' drive was conducted in Sushant Lok phases 2 and 3, and Sectors 55, 56, and 57, led by Amit Madholia, District Town Planner (enforcement).
The violations include operating businesses in residential properties without proper permissions, such as salons, paying guests (PGs), clinics, tuition centers, real estate offices, boutiques, car service centers, and printing shops. Additionally, structural violations were identified, including unauthorized construction in zoning areas, rooms built in stealth parking zones, covered cut-outs, and additional rooftop structures.
Homeowners who received initial notices and failed to respond or provided unsatisfactory replies will face restoration orders. This will be followed by sealing actions, cancellation of Occupation Certificates (OCs), and blocking of property registry transactions. Property owners have a 7-day window to respond to the notices, after which immediate punitive action will be taken. Enforcement efforts will also extend to fire safety regulation violations, particularly in properties used for paying guests or commercial kitchens.
Such drives conducted by municipal authorities ensure adherence to urban planning norms, maintaining the character of residential areas, and to address safety concerns related to unauthorized constructions and commercial activities.
