Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater recently introduced multiple convenient channels for residents to pay urban development (UD) tax, including UPI via QR codes on bills, rotating in-person camps, and a door-to-door collection service. The initiative aims to boost collections and ease taxpayer convenience. Alongside resolving any objections promptly, the civic body plans to repeat outreach efforts next month. Supported by leadership and local representatives, this effort reflects the city's drive toward streamlined municipal revenue processes.
Residents in Jaipur under the jurisdiction of the Jaipur Municipal Corporation-Greater (JMC-G) now have simpler, faster options to pay their Urban Development (UD) tax. The civic body has rolled out a new citizen-friendly tax collection system, introducing multiple modes of payment and grievance redressal to increase participation and ensure ease of access.
UD tax bills issued to property owners now come with UPI-enabled QR codes, allowing citizens to instantly scan and pay their dues online through digital payment platforms. Those who are unable or unwilling to pay online can also request doorstep collection of their tax amount. To do so, they can contact the dedicated toll-free number: 1800-572-8545. On receiving a call, civic staff visit the taxpayer's home, facilitating easy payment without requiring them to visit municipal offices.
In addition to digital and home-based services, JMC-G is also conducting UD tax collection camps across different wards of the city. These camps are operational from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and are scheduled on a 15-day rotation basis to ensure coverage across all areas. Property owners are encouraged to bring relevant documents such as their property ownership papers, previous tax receipts, and copies of any pending objections.
Officials have confirmed that most objections raised by property owners during these camps are being resolved on the spot. The aim is not only to collect taxes but also to build transparency and reduce the backlog of unresolved complaints. Tax officials are working closely with local councillors, ward-level development committees, and business associations to spread awareness and ensure effective community participation.
Local leadership has played a key role in the implementation of this initiative. Councillors and trade organisations have helped publicise the available services, encouraging greater footfall at camps. With strong backing from within the administration, the civic body is planning to conduct a fresh round of camps across city wards in the coming month as well, targeting households that may have missed earlier sessions.
Traditionally, UD tax collection in Jaipur has been handled through municipal offices, which often led to long queues, confusion, and delays particularly for residents unfamiliar with the process. With this new multi-pronged strategy, JMC-G is seeking to address those pain points and modernise the way it interacts with residents.
