Adani Logistics Ltd has launched its inaugural double-stack rake service between ICD Tumb in Gujarat and ICD Patli in Haryana, aimed at transforming the freight movement between key manufacturing zones in southern Gujarat and the northern consumption belt. This strategic move is set to reduce logistics costs, cut carbon emissions by up to 30% per container, and significantly boost supply chain efficiency. Industries across textiles, electronics, and pharmaceuticals are expected to benefit as this multimodal freight link integrates Gujarat's ports with North India's industrial corridors.
Adani Logistics Ltd (ALL) has flagged off its first-ever double-stack rake service linking ICD Tumb in Gujarat's Vapi to ICD Patli in Haryana. The development is being seen as a transformative step in India's logistics sector, specifically for the Vapi-Haryana freight corridor that connects major manufacturing and consumption hubs.
Company officials stated that the new service, using rakes that carry two layers of containers, will substantially increase cargo capacity per trip. This efficiency gain is expected to translate into faster deliveries, lowered carbon emissions, and reduced logistics expenditure for clients operating across the states of Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi-NCR, and Punjab.
A senior official from Adani Logistics emphasized that this initiative goes beyond simple freight movement. He explained that it enhances India's supply chain competitiveness by offering quicker, greener, and more economical options to customers. The double-stack setup will also decongest heavily used road corridors, slashing emissions by nearly 30% per container.
The Tumb-Patli corridor is particularly advantageous for exporters and industries operating in textiles, chemicals, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. These sectors, heavily concentrated in Silvassa, Daman, and Vapi, now have faster rail access to northern consumption zones and gateways like Mundra and Hazira ports in Gujarat.
This move aligns with India's broader target of reducing logistics costs from as high as 14% of GDP to under 10%. Rail-based cargo solutions like this one are central to that vision, as they reduce road dependency, improve predictability, and scale efficiently with growing industrial demand.
Adani Logistics, which already manages a wide network of multimodal logistics parks and ICDs across the country, sees this launch as more than just an operational upgrade. It's a statement about the company's long-term commitment to driving infrastructure innovation and supporting India's manufacturing ecosystem through smarter logistics.
