IHG Hotels & Resorts has formalised a strategic partnership with Atithi Gokul Hotel Inns to develop a 150-room Holiday Inn in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2028, this new property will cater to the rising influx of business and leisure travellers in the city. The collaboration is expected to strengthen IHG's midscale presence in western India and aligns with its broader growth strategy in emerging urban markets. The company expressed confidence in its global reach and trusted brand to deliver solid returns for stakeholders.
IHG Hotels & Resorts, a leading global hospitality company, confirmed earlier this week that it has entered into a management agreement with Atithi Gokul Hotel Inns to develop a new Holiday Inn hotel in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The property will comprise 150 rooms and is expected to commence operations in the third quarter of 2028.
In an official statement, IHG shared that this upcoming hotel will contribute to its expanding footprint in India, especially in tier-I and tier-II cities where demand for internationally branded midscale hotels continues to grow. Ahmedabad, known as a commercial and industrial powerhouse in Gujarat, has witnessed a notable increase in tourism and business travel, making it an attractive location for this expansion.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director for South West Asia at IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked that with IHG?s reliable brand reputation and extensive global distribution network, the new property is anticipated to be well-positioned to meet the evolving expectations of modern travellers in Ahmedabad. He further noted that the collaboration is expected to drive robust returns for the owning entity, Atithi Gokul Hotel Inns.
This development is part of IHG?s broader strategy to enhance its presence in India, where it already operates a range of properties under its Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, and InterContinental brands. The company has been steadily increasing its pipeline to match the growing demand in both business and leisure segments across the country.
The upcoming Holiday Inn in Ahmedabad will likely feature contemporary rooms, dining options, meeting spaces, and recreational facilities, catering to domestic and international guests alike. With India projected to become one of the fastest-growing tourism economies, IHG's decision to invest in Ahmedabad signifies confidence in the region?s hospitality potential.
The forthcoming Holiday Inn is poised to cater to the city's rising stature as a business and travel destination. As hospitality demand in India continues to surge, especially in strategically located cities, this collaboration exemplifies investor confidence in the sector and reaffirms IHG?s long-term vision to shape the country?s evolving accommodation landscape. The hotel?s launch in 2028 is expected to be a timely addition, bridging international standards with local hospitality needs.
