The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has urged residents to clear their holding tax dues by the end of this month to benefit from a rebate of up to 10%. The civic body has rolled out this incentive as part of its annual tax recovery campaign to ensure timely compliance and boost municipal revenues. The rebate is applicable only if the full amount is paid in a single transaction, with partial or instalment payments excluded. RMC has activated both online and offline billing modes to facilitate ease of payment for property owners across the city.
In a bid to strengthen its annual revenue collection drive, the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has introduced a limited-period rebate scheme for property owners across the city. Residents have been advised to pay their holding tax dues by the end of this month to receive a rebate of up to 10%.
A senior RMC official stated that the incentive is available only to those who make a one-time full payment of their outstanding dues. The official remarked that taxpayers who do so would qualify for a 10% rebate on their current dues. For those who have unpaid dues from previous financial years, a slightly reduced rebate of 6% would still be applicable-again, provided the full backlog is cleared in a single payment.
The official noted that this rebate scheme has been part of the civic body's strategy for several years and has historically led to increased compliance from residents. He stressed that the discount is not available for those opting for instalment-based payments.
To make the process seamless, RMC has dispatched tax bills through both online portals and physical mail. Residents may also download their holding tax bills directly from the official website of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation. The authority has urged all eligible taxpayers to clear their dues before the deadline to avail the benefits and avoid penalties.
In previous years, the RMC has implemented similar rebate schemes during the same period, which have consistently shown success in improving early payment rates. The civic body has positioned this campaign as part of a larger move to build a more efficient and transparent tax collection ecosystem, aiding the development of urban services and infrastructure projects.
With digital systems in place and a tested rebate structure, RMC is fostering a more streamlined and citizen-friendly tax ecosystem, setting a precedent for other urban centres in Jharkhand and beyond.
