Pune, a city known for its rich cultural heritage and rapid urbanization has projects exceeding INR 50,000 crore. A cornerstone of this transformation is the Pune Metro Phase 2 expansion, with a proposed investment of INR 9,897 crore. This phase includes the Khadakwasla-Swargate-Hadapsar-Kharadi and Nal Stop-Warje-Manik Bagh corridors, aiming to enhance public transportation and reduce traffic congestion.

Complementing this is the Pune Bengaluru Expressway, a INR 50,000 crore project under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. This 700 km, eight-lane expressway will connect Pune to Bengaluru, reducing travel time from 15 hours to approximately 7 hours.

The city is also focusing on environmental rejuvenation through the Mula-Mutha Riverfront project, with a combined investment of INR 5,500 crore. This includes INR 4,000 crore for riverfront development and INR 1,500 crore for river rejuvenation, aiming to enhance the city's ecological balance and provide recreational spaces for residents.

In terms of urban mobility, the Pune Metro Line 3 project is underway with an investment of INR 8,313 crore. This line will run from District Court to Megapolis Pune in Hinjawadi, spanning 23.3 km with 23 stations, and is expected to be operational by March 2025.

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has allocated INR 1,626 crore in the 2025-26 budget for road development, focusing on addressing traffic congestion and improving road infrastructure. This includes the development of 30 missing links and land acquisition for new road projects.

Additionally, the Yerawada-Katraj twin tunnel project is in the pre-feasibility stage, with an estimated cost of INR 400 crore per kilometer. This 20 km tunnel aims to alleviate traffic congestion between Pune's north and south regions.

These comprehensive infrastructure developments underscore Pune's commitment to evolving into a modern urban center. By enhancing connectivity, promoting sustainable development, and improving public amenities, the city is poised to offer a higher quality of life to its residents and attract investment for sustained economic growth.
