The Ghaziabad Development Authority has rolled out a new monthly grievance redressal mechanism, named RERA Samadhan Diwas, to address homebuyer complaints more directly and minimise escalation to UP RERA. The forum will convene every third Thursday at the GDA office, with its first session already seeing on-the-spot resolutions and withdrawals of cases from UP RERA. This step reflects the authority's growing accountability as a township developer under RERA and its effort to handle disputes efficiently while strengthening buyer confidence.
The Ghaziabad Development Authority has introduced a dedicated monthly forum called RERA Samadhan Diwas to take up homebuyer grievances in a structured manner. Designed to operate on the third Thursday of every month, the platform will act as a direct channel for resolution, reducing the need for prolonged proceedings before the regulatory body.
Officials explained that as the GDA is responsible for large township projects, including Madhuban Bapudham, it also falls under the purview of UP RERA, just like private developers. Over time, multiple complaints and refund orders have been passed against the authority, prompting the launch of this mechanism to implement RERA rulings effectively and settle disputes more swiftly.
The inaugural session was held at the GDA office, with 20 complainants in attendance. Two issues were resolved on the spot, while processes were initiated to handle the remaining cases. Two complainants also submitted affidavits to withdraw their cases from UP RERA after receiving satisfactory assurances from the authority.
Early results indicate that the initiative has the potential to reduce litigation and foster greater trust in the authority's functioning. If the monthly sessions continue to resolve grievances effectively and consistently, the mechanism could not only improve buyer satisfaction in Ghaziabad but also serve as an example for other development bodies across the state to replicate.
